My Story

Hi, I’m Cade Mathis, founder of Millheim Honey Company.

My journey with bees began in 2017, when I was in junior high. What started as a small hobby and a way to save money for college has grown into a thriving business built on hard work, curiosity, and a love for agriculture. Over the years, Millheim Honey Company has become a part of who I am — and it continues to grow right alongside me.

From Hobby to Business

When I first began beekeeping, my only goal was to produce a little honey and learn more about these incredible insects. I never imagined it would lead me to building a brand, supplying stores around the community, and creating unique products that people now look forward to — like our infused honeys, spice blends, and seasonal offerings.

Our pure wildflower honey quickly became a fan favorite, but I’ve always been driven to innovate. From Hot Honey: Bayou Gold to Vanilla Bean and Cinnamon infusions, every product is crafted to highlight the natural sweetness and versatility of honey. Today, Millheim Honey Company is more than just jars on a shelf — it’s about sharing the story of pollinators, community, and tradition.

In addition to honey, I also provide bee removals and hive management for landowners. Whether it’s relocating unwanted colonies or managing hives for agricultural exemption purposes, these services play a big part in supporting pollinators while also benefiting the people I work with.

College & Leadership

I graduated from Bellville High School in 2023 and now attend Tarleton State University, where I’m a full-time honors student majoring in Animal Science with a concentration in Science and a minor in Chemistry.

At Tarleton, I’ve been fortunate to combine my academic interests with leadership roles and service:

  • Student Government Association – serving as the Congressman for the College of Agriculture.

  • Agribusiness Club – connecting with students and industry leaders in agriculture.

  • Tarleton Serves – giving back to the community through volunteer projects.

  • Honors College – continuing to challenge myself academically.

Bees at Tarleton

I worked with Tarleton State University’s Agriculture Department to establish beehives at the Tarleton farm, which are now in place and active. The goal of these hives is to provide students with hands-on learning opportunities, contribute to research and education in agriculture, and create additional pollinator habitat on campus. It’s a project that combines my academic studies, leadership roles, and passion for bees into something that will serve the Tarleton community for years to come.

Looking Ahead

Millheim Honey Company continues to expand, from providing honey to local stores and restaurants, to offering new products online, to creating opportunities for education and pollinator conservation. My dream is to keep growing this business while giving back — whether that’s through supporting local agriculture, educating the community about bees, or simply sharing honey that brings people together.

Every jar, every infusion, every order represents a piece of this journey. And I couldn’t do it without the support of customers, family, friends, and the community that believes in what Millheim Honey Company stands for.

Thank you for being part of my story — and for making yours a little sweeter with Millheim Honey.

— Cade
